Diesel watches and Fossil, Inc. announced today that they
have signed a worldwide license agreement granting Fossil
the exclusive rights to manufacture, market and distribute
Diesel brand watches. It is anticipated that the first collection
will be presented at the Basel watch fair in March 2000 and
will be available in all key European markets and at selected
specialty retailers in the United States beginning next summer.
Diesel and Fossil are formulating plans for a major launch
event next March to introduce the collection.
The initial Diesel wrist watch collection will feature approximately
40 styles with digital, analog and ana/digi presentations.
In addition, the collection will include a new hybrid product
presentation designed exclusively to reflect the singular
style and image of the Diesel brand. The wrist watch collection
will be predominantly unisex with certain styles available
in men's and women's pairs.
The collection will reflect the design, spirit and ethos
that are associated with Diesel. Style and image are carefully
controlled and preserved by Diesel, particularly as far as
design and communication are concerned. This careful attention
to the brand image explains why it took Diesel President and
founder Renzo Rosso over two years of attentive market research
to identify the right partner to introduce Diesel watches.
The design concepts of the Diesel watch collection will be
developed jointly by Fossil's and Diesel's international design
staffs and will show careful attention to detail with a focus
on quality in the selection of materials and in production.
